National Livestock Register
Systor has since 1999 developed what has now become the key national central register in Norway for meeting the challenge of livestock tracking and tracing for the governmental Norwegian food safety authority. The register is a central modular internet accessible database covering a wide range of user groups as farmers, farmers’ representatives, diary producers, slaughterhouses and users in the public community. The database is also used as a source for providing data in production of national statistical data and in the field of research.
The register contains daily updated information regarding bovine, swine, ovine, caprine and poultry livestock movement, thus implements a number of EC council regulations honouring Norwegian obligations in the field of food safety, animal health, effective surveillance and fraud detection. The data is validated and cross checked on input, thus ensuring high quality and accuracy of data.
Systor Trondheim's livestock register may be adapted and used for similar needs in other countries. This system may also be adapted to other usages where there is a need for being able to track anything from an initial to a final state.
